Health Care For Rodents
Although fleas are not commonly found on mice or rats, if your pet lives in a house with other animals such as cats and dogs then fleas can be transmitted. Flea bites can cause your rodent to scratch, and there is a high chance of anaemia in very small animals. You may be able to see the flea dirt on the fur of your animal, which is black in colour. Fur mites are a parasite that predominantly affects rats and ear mites can be a problem to both mice and rats. An indication that your mice and rats are suffering from mites includes thinning hair and itching. Your pet may scratch so much that it results in an injury. There is also a chance that your rodent could contract lice which can be seen on their body. Lice tend not to move from animal to animal but will suck the blood causing anaemia, hair thinning and itchy skin. Parasites such as these are irritating and unpleasant but luckily can be easily treated with our topical products for small animals.
